Investment Director EMEA
Chiara Sommer is Investment Director of Intel Capital EMEA based in Berlin covering Central, Eastern, and Northern European transactions. She identifies, evaluates, leads, and negotiates strategic transactions in these markets. She is responsible for fostering strategic thinking and growth initiatives that link Intel’s business strategy with strategic transactions. Her investment focus includes Blockchain, Internet of Things, Robotics, Big Data, Mobility, and Artificial Intelligence.
Before joining Intel Capital, Chiara gained extensive transactional experience at High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Germany’s leading and most active seed-stage venture capital investor with a total fund volume of about €900 Mio. She won and managed two of the Corporate Limited Partners of the fund and held the fort for HTGF in Berlin where she built an extensive network in the European Venture Capital industry. She sourced, evaluated, analyzed and negotiated investments in technology companies in the following sectors: B2B-Software, SaaS, Crypto/blockchain, Marketplaces, Apps, Fintech, Data, Analytics, Commerce, and AdTech. She was working closely with her portfolio companies to set-up, professionalize and scale businesses with regards to strategy, financial planning, organizational structures and processes, marketing and sales, business model, recruiting of key personnel and fundraising. She managed and completed more than 25 financing rounds (Seed, Series A & B) with leading German and international investors.
Chiara is an entrepreneur at heart and founded an online advice startup in 2011 after she has gained some experience in Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan and Management Consulting at goetzpartners.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Studies majoring in Finance from Cass Business School in London where she took an ERASMUS year abroad at Bocconi University in Milan.
