In his role as a senior project manager at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Dr. Markus Gick strives to strengthen German-Israeli relations, with a special focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. In line of his work and based on his passion for both Germany and Israel, Markus connects the Israeli Start-up Ecosystem with Germany, especially the German Mittelstand (SMEs).

Previously, Markus worked for several years as a business consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), mainly in the banking, pharma and energy sector.

He holds a Ph.D. in law from Freie Universität, Berlin. His thesis was on “the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and its influence on Israeli adjudication – transnational dialogue and judicial networks”.

Markus worked for serval years in Israel, among others with Holocaust survivors at Amcha, the national Israeli Centre for psychological treatment of Holocaust survivors, and with Jewish and Arab children at the Leo Baeck Centre, Haifa. In his spare time, Markus loves to go skiing and hiking. He lives with his family in Cologne.
