Dr. Wolfgang Bernhart has been working for the automotive industry for over 20 years.
In 1993, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Karlsruhe’s Institute of Production Science (thesis paper on product-cost calculation In during concurrent engineering) and started his career in consulting as a Senior Project Manager. In 1999 he became Associate Director at Arthur D. Little, managing their German Automotive activities between 2000 and 2002. After serving as Key Account Director Daimler at COVISINT in Amsterdam, he managed the European automotive activities at Arthur D. Little from 2003 to 2006. He has been Senior Partner at Roland Berger GmbH since 2007.
Within Roland Berger’s Global Automotive Competence Center, he holds global responsibility for all topics related to “Innovation and Technology”. His focus areas are “eMobility and Energy Storage Systems”, ” Intelligent Transportation Systems, esp. Connected vehicles and Autonomous Driving”, “Artificial Intelligence in Automotive“, “Electronics, sensors and Software”, and “Future vehicle concepts”.
He consults global OEMs, suppliers and new players on these topics and its implications on strategy, business models, organization and processes. Wolfgang Bernhart has clients in Germany, France, Italy, the UK and India, China, Korea, Japan, and the US.
Dr. Bernhart has written various studies and articles and is a regular presenter in conferences on the topics mentioned above. In addition, he edits the “eMobility Index” and the “Automated Vehicle Index”, which are periodically published with the fka Aachen, as well as the “Automotive Disruption Radar”, a bi-annual study which includes a survey of over 13,000 vehicle users in 13 countries.
